Places We Find Peace
Places We Find Peace
Pull up a chair and sit awhile
October 5, 2026
Dear Friend:
In my last few blogs, we talked about the peace that can be found in nature, in the country and the city, in autumn, and in escaping the noise.
Today, I want to talk about the other places we find peace.
Sitting in your home with no one else around. Maybe a dog is lying next to you on the sofa or a cat is purring away on your legs. You are sitting there with a book in your hand. Or maybe you are just sitting with your thoughts. The house is quiet. Dusk has fallen, and all that is left is blissful peace.
Or
You are sitting in church or kneeling and praying, and there is no one else around. Just you and God. What could be more peaceful? Maybe you are with other people, and there is gentle organ music playing. It is so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Or
You are hiking in the woods with a friend or family member, and all you hear are birds chirping or the sound of crickets.
Or
You are strolling around an art gallery or museum, taking in all the beauty of the art. You stop and sit on a bench, staring at a painting, and your mind takes you to the peaceful place in the painting.
Or
A mountain summit, taking in the absolute beauty and wonder of the vastness before you.
Or
A botanical garden, strolling among the trees and flowers. What a beautiful place to find peace.
Or
A quiet train, where all you hear is the sound of the train and the low sounds coming from the countryside.
Despite all the clamor of our world, there are still places to find peace.
We just need to take the time out of our busy lives to stop and take in that healing peace.
Until next time, stay well, stay safe, and stay connected to those you love.
Be well,
Emma
