The Sounds of Our Lives
The Sounds of Our Lives
Pull up a chair and sit awhile
October 8, 2026
Dear Friend:
The last few blogs we talked about the places we find peace and escaping the noise. Today I want to talk about the NOISE—not just noise, but the good noise.
The sound of “I love you” from a spouse, child, family member, or that special someone.
The voices and laughter of our family sitting around the kitchen table.
The sound of “Hello” when the phone is answered, especially from someone we have not talked to in a while.
The opening of a door when someone we love returns home. Or the sound of the doorbell or a knock on the door when someone we love comes to visit.
The sound of a baby's cry first thing in the morning.
The bark or meow from our beloved pet.
The sounds of a bird chirping outside our window. Or the sounds of crickets on a warm summer evening.
The sound of water rippling through a stream.
The crack of a bat at a ballgame.
The music playing during a child's dance recital.
The sound of our child's voice singing at their recital.
The sound of the instrument our child is learning to play.
The voice of someone we love or admire.
The sound of the alarm clock on the day we are leaving for vacation—if we even slept at all.
The sound of our favorite food cooking on the stove or the tea kettle whistling.
The sounds of a home improvement project being worked on that you have been patiently waiting for.
These are the sounds of our lives—the good noise, if you will.
These are the noises that, in our later years, we will replay in our minds over and over again.
The happy memories.
We cherish them.
Until next time, stay well, stay safe, and stay connected to those you love.
Be well,
Emma
