When the House Gets Quiet
April 13, 2026
Dear Friend,
There are moments when the house feels a little quieter than usual. Not in a bad way, just enough to make you pause and notice it. In those moments, your thoughts have a way of coming forward and filling the space a little more clearly. And more often than not, those thoughts turn to the people who matter to us.
In those quiet moments, I often find myself thinking about my daughters. Wondering how they’re doing, and feeling thankful for the comfort of knowing they’re part of my life. And I realize that not everyone has that same comfort that connection brings.
Some of us have family nearby. Others are miles away, or don’t have that kind of support. Connection can look different for each of us. Sometimes it’s a phone call. Sometimes it’s a visit. And sometimes it’s simply knowing someone is there, even if they’re not nearby.
And often, it’s the smallest moments that bring the greatest comfort. Maybe it’s enough to reach out when we can, and to accept those moments of connection when they come.
Until next time, stay well, stay safe, and check on someone if you can.
Be well,
Emma
