Where Do I Belong Now?

April 13, 2026

Dear Friend,

The other day, I caught myself looking around my home—not the way I usually do, but with a different kind of question in mind. It wasn’t about chores or daily routines. It was about something I hadn’t really put into words before. What made it even more surprising is that I truly like where I live. In fact, I love it. And yet, I still found myself wondering… is this where I belong long-term?

I live in a place that feels comfortable and secure. It’s all on one floor, it has little touches that make life easier, and I feel at home here. It’s also close enough to my daughter that she can visit easily, and that means more to me than I can put into words.

So why was this question even on my mind?

I think it’s because, at this stage of life, we begin to think not just about today—but about what comes next. We start to think about what might change—our health, our needs, or how we live day to day—even if everything feels fine right now, and whether we’re prepared for it. I suspect many of us have had moments like this, even if we don’t always say it out loud.

It doesn’t mean something is wrong or that we need to make immediate changes. It simply means we’re thinking ahead in a different way. Maybe it’s enough, for now, just to begin asking the questions and giving ourselves time to think.

Until next time, stay well, stay safe, and check on someone if you can.

Be well,

Emma
